Happy Memorial Day! While I know so many of us look at this as the kickoff to a season of brunch, barbecues and parties, it’s really a time to thank the heroes, who volunteer to risk their lives everyday for our freedom, and their families, who accept and support their sacrifice.
So what better way to say thank you, than heading to Navy Beach‘s (16 Navy Road, Montauk) sixth annual fundraiser for the Navy SEAL Foundation. This event honors Montauk’s Naval history and continues its support of the Navy SEAL Foundation to help raise awareness and funds for the organization. The Navy SEAL Foundation provides ongoing support to the Naval Special Warfare community and its families. SEALS date back to WWII, known for their ability to fight on Sea, Air and Land, they are the most elite component of the Navy’s Special Operations Force. These men are the top of the top, and the CIA regularly recruits SEAL team members.
On Saturday, June 16th from 3–5 p.m., Navy Beach will host a cocktail party to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation. This year’s remarks will be provided by Rear Admiral Tom W. Steffens, US Navy (Ret) (SEAL), who served 34 years as a Navy SEAL, and grew up swimming on the beaches of Long Island.
The event will feature cocktails and food from favorite Navy Beach menu items. Guests will be able to bid on silent auction items and purchase raffle tickets. The cost to attend the event is $50 per adult, $25 for veterans, and free for children under 16. Following the event on June 16th, the restaurant will be open for regular dinner service beginning at 5:30 p.m.. For those who prefer to purchase their tickets at the door, kindly RSVP for the cocktail party to email@example.com.
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, a donation of $1 to the SEAL foundation will be added to your check. Diners can give more if they’d like, in an effort to beat the $30,000 raised last year. Navy Beach will again match the first $2,500 raised through this season. Donations may also be made online at https://www.navybeach.com/events/help-navy-beach-support-the-navy-seal-foundation/ .
So get out there and save a SEAL.
