Spruce, the award winning New York City florist, will be a floral sponsor of the Hampton Classic beginning this weekend. They will provide over 200 flower centerpieces in the VIP tents. Guests can also visit the Spruce boutique at the Classic and purchase succulents and flowers arranged in the company’s signature modern style. And make sure not to miss having your picture taken in front of the flower wall.
Spruce opened in 1998 to high acclaim from customers and editors alike. In February of 2018, Spruce changed ownership and moved to a new showroom in Chelsea. New owner, Cate Halsey, has been a lifelong flower enthusiast. She started gardening as a young girl at her grandparents’ homes in Southampton and New Jersey. In 2007, she spent two years studying horticulture in Beacon, New York, managing 42 gardens and 10,000 sq. ft. greenhouses.
Halsey grew up around horses and says, “A Palomino named Summertime and a Tennessee Walker named Morning Glory were my first horse friends as a child.” It would seem that the combination of her love of horses and love of flowers would make her the perfect candidate to decorate the Classic this year.
